While Apple has incorporated AI into its products, it has not yet ventured into the realm of generative AI, unlike Google’s Bard or OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Apple’s current AI applications are primarily focused on enhancing photo quality and automatic text correction. The company has developed its own sizeable language model framework, known as Ajax, and has an internal chatbot, Apple GPT, though these innovations have not yet made their way into Apple’s consumer products.

Apple’s strategy involves infusing AI into services like Siri, Messages, and Apple Music, aiming to create automated playlists, much like Spotify’s collaboration with OpenAI. Additionally, Apple is exploring the integration of AI into Xcode to provide assistance for app developers. Key executives spearheading these AI initiatives at Apple include John Giannandrea, the SVP of machine learning and AI strategy; Craig Federighi, the SVP of software engineering; and Eddy Cue, the head of services, according to Bloomberg’s reports. Apple, however, has not issued any official statements regarding these developments.

Simultaneously, many individuals believe that Apple should prioritize addressing the current quality control concerns surrounding its iPhone 15 and consider delivering an even more exceptional premium device for its next iPhone lineup, particularly the Pro models. This comes in the context of Apple’s endeavor to invest a significant annual budget of $1 billion in catching up with the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence, as reported by Bloomberg.
